The homepage is one of the most important, but oftentimes overlooked, content real estate on your website. When a new visitor lands on your homepage, you've only got a few seconds to get their attention before they exit out and never come back (talk about dramatic)! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 𝗦𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗱𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲? There are many reasons why someone would leave your homepage the moment they land. After auditing countless websites over the years, I have found most of the time, it has nothing to do with the actual content on your website (in fact, that frequently comes last), but the more subtle elements that indirectly affects the perception of your content. Some of these examples might be: ⚠️ Not what they were looking for ⚠️ Complicated or difficult to find navigation ⚠️ Constant ads and/or popups that disrupts the scrolling experience ⚠️ Slow page load ⚠️ Illegible text and/or headings ⚠️ Unnatural and/or dull copy …Just to name a few. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Today, I am breaking down the 3 most important elements of a captivating homepage that is sure to get the attention of your target audiences and encourage them to continue scrolling and exploring your website.
